Review of the Blackstone Audio Inc. audiobook edition (September 2012) of the original eBook (August 2012)
I wasn't familiar with the Liebermann Papers / Vienna Blood books (2005 - ) until I happened to recently see the first episode of Season 2 of the TV series and saw that it was based on Frank Tallis' novels.
It is not a fair comparison, but having seen the TV adaptation first, this original short story was a much simpler affair even if it had some of the same main characters and a similar but different twist ending. This book/audiobook version doesn't call on the psychiatric skills of Dr. Max Liebermann very much at all, unless you want to say that hypnotism is part of those arts.
I still enjoyed it enough that I'd certainly read further books in this historical crime/psychiatry series set in early 20th century Vienna, Austria.
