I say without a doubt that anyone planning on reading this book during Halloween is picking the right book to read.

The Riggle twins: 2 siblings go trick and treat…lock your doors and don’t open!

Pumpkinhead Ted: Don’t mess with the boy with the pumpkinhead…

Ghost light road: If your friend wants you to take a drive on ghost light road, stay home and watch a scary movie on Netflix instead!

Easy picking: Don’t mess with a boy and his imaginary friend…

The Scare Rows: What’s up with horror stories and corn? No one dies in a field of wheat…

All and all 5 good scary stories, well the last one was more odd than scary and with an ending, I really didn't see coming...

Now I just hope for Bad Apples 2 next year...:)

Bloody hell, I hate goodreads sometimes, I just lost my review because I went to "Change edition" and forgot to save the text I had already typed. I know it's "my fault" for being stupid but badreads should have fixed this quirk with at least a "save" or "Are you sure?" pop-up by now.

Onwards...

I really wanted to like this book, but having read other things by the contributors I anticipated a better roller coaster ride. The gross-out nausea factor is effective here (that's a good thing) but I just couldn't get into caring about anyone enough to really get anything but queasy going for me. I wanted suspense and terror but all I felt was splatter (again, that's not always bad in this genre).

Worth the read anyway and fits the season. ( )

These unique, gruesome and devilishly delicious stories will have you looking over your shoulder, jumping at every noise and shadow.

Be careful of wandering dark streets at night.

The authors twisted imaginations take horror to the highest levels with surprise endings and plenty of twists and turns along the way.

Four stars all the way!

The Riggle Twins by Gregor Xane

Pretty gross and devilishly delicious with tricks and treats for the Halloween hater. Do you have a dark house on Halloween, no candy for the treaters? Beware…egging and tping are not the only tricks these children have in store for you. 4 Stars

Pumpkinhead Ted by Evans Light

What they did to Ted is so awful…I can’t tell you. You’ll have to read it for yourself. BUT, he is back, one year later, for payback. OMG. I never saw that coming. Evans Light takes me to a place that smacks me around and makes me scream UNCLE! 4 Stars

Ghost Light Road by Adam Light

Of course, someone saw the light. Of course, what happens next, had to happen. I actually laughed. Dumbasses! Here comes the badness. You think vampires and werewolves are scary, you haven’t met Uncle Jesse’s children…and you really don’t want to. 4 Stars

Easy Pickings by Jason Parent

Beware. What goes around, comes around. Like a cat playing with its prey, I know something is coming…Now…No, now….Uh Oh. 4 Stars

The Scare Rows by Edward Lorn

Children of the Corn and Supernatural on steroids. I didn’t see this story developing the way it did, but I should not have been surprised, with Edward’s twisted imagination. Horror, perverted sex and evil do go together well. I wondered how he would end The Scare Rows and I couldn’t help but laugh when I got there. Corn Whisky…HA HA HA HA HA! Excellent. 5 Stars

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Bad Apples.

This was the best anthology I've read in a long time! All five stories are very strong and very, VERY creepy, perfect for the Halloween season. Looking forward to seeing another anthology next year! "Bad Apples II: More Slices of Halloween Horror" - - how can this *not* happen? ( )

*Book source ~ Won in a BookLikes giveaway.

Five slices of juicy goodness in this Halloween anthology. Juicy may not be a good word choice to use here. How about shudder inducing? Yeah, that’s about right.

The Riggle Twins by Gregor Xane ~ I think this is my favorite of the five. I was confused at first, but the writing was so delicious I had to find out what the hell was going on. I was still a little confused at the end, but I can’t say I wasn’t entertained.

Pumpkinhead Ted by Evans Light ~ The cruelty in this one got to me. Well-written, but I didn’t like it. And the ending left me scratching my head. But I’m almost always left scratching my head when I read horror, so that’s not a big deal.

Ghost Light Road by Adam Light ~ Now, this one is my 2nd favorite. I can easily picture this as an episode of Supernatural. How truly creepy it is! However, I find it incredibly hard to believe that Bill wasn’t passed out cold from the booze he was drinking. I call bullshit that he could drive, walk, talk and be cognizant enough to tell his tale in the morning. But still…Supernatural! Call Sam & Dean!

Easy Pickings by Jason Parent ~ What dafuq did I read here? I don’t understand Jack and his buddy Jacob. Though I’m not upset that dickhead Trevor got what he deserved.

The Scare Rows by Edward Lorn ~ To the man who got me reading horror I can say this…yowzers! I grew up on a farm. I used to run between the cornstalks. I’m glad I never read anything like this when I was growing up or I may not have turned out so well-adjusted. I’m staying far far away from any Halloween event that even remotely resembles the Scare Rows and that includes that damn Corn Maze just down the road! ( )
