This book was about Leonardo da Vinci who was a great and intelligent man. He grew up with a good education and was a curious and creative thinker. His life time was spent observing and doing so many different things. Leonardo is known to be one of the greatest painters who has ever lived. He has make a big impact on our life today with his knowledge and inventions. He made much progress with his life for once being a smart boy in a small Italian city.

I thought this book was good and educational. I learned much more about him and I think he was a great and smart man. I liked how the book didn't just focus on his accomplishments but his entire life. His accomplishments were quit incredible and revolutionized our today. His life as a kid was also quit interesting, he was a normal kid with a good education but became a very smart and intelligent man. I enjoyed this book very much ( )

The book tells the story of Leonardo da Vinci's life. It starts with his birth in the town of Vinci. His name, or the one we know him as, comes from the name of his birthplace. His unofficial name roughly means "Leonardo from the town of Vinci". He was born on 4/15/1452. His father was a nobleman, but his mother was a peasant. His parents were never married. Little is known of his early childhood, only that he lived with his mother until he was 5, then his father. His father married and remarried many times. As a result, Leonardo had up to 12 half siblings. Because of his fathers status, he received an education. He did not excel it his courses, but this was probably because of other interests outside of his education. He loved to draw and sketch all sorts of things, and enjoyed walking around the city of Florence, where his father moved after Leonardo came to live with them. One day Leonardo's father found some of these drawings, and brought them to his friend. This man, Verrocchio, was also a master painter. He agreed to give Leonardo an apprenticeship. This would set Leonard on the path to do many things. Later in his life, he studied subjects such as science, nature, painting, sculpting, architecture, inventing, anatomy, and botany. He is tasked with painting pictures like The Last Supper, and the ever enduring Mona Lisa. Many say that he was possibly the greatest painter, and even man, the world has ever seen.

I enjoyed this book for a few reasons. To start I like how brief it was. It only took me about an hour to read (hence the name). While it was rather short, this does not mean it lacked in informative value. It contained many things I didn't know about Da Vinci. The book was, above all, short and informative. I expect to read more In the future. ( )
