Casey Denver, soldier of fortune, is back from helping Castro win his revolution, and he knows a secret. A Group of Batista bandits are hiding out with four million dollars stolen from the Cuban treasury. Casey wants that four million, and three beautiful women are willing to help him get it. Diane - uninhibited and untamed, who doesn't want money but definitely wants a man...any man. Magdalena - calculating but far from cold, who also wants a man...the one who ends up with the four million dollars. In the wake of Castro's revolution, a host of pulp adventure novels featured some sort of involvement with Cuba. Deming, who wrote numerous stories and books in the forties, fifties, and sixties, put this men's adventure novel out in 1961. It features a disparate group of Cuban exiles and sympathizers, some for Castro and some for the Batista loyalists, in and around Los Angeles.
McCabe and Denver were two soldier of fortune types who got involved in the Cuban revolution, but are now on the search of four million dollars of pilfered loot from Batista's coffers. It's basically an action story with fairly minimal plotting or character development. Denver apparently is a terrific fighting man and irresistible to beautiful women.
Had this novel achieved success, it would've undoubtedly spawned a number of action-packed sequels. It's not a bad read, but don't expect anything too special or different. (
