I really love animals and I especially love dogs, so this book really struck with me. Darby, like any new puppy, loves to chew on everything and anything in his new home, and it frustrates his owners to their last straw and make Darby an outside dog. One day, the weather damages his new home with his family trapped inside. With time not on their sides, Darby reaches his family before the rescue team did. He saves the family and becomes the hero. This book shows the power and loyalty of dogs. Dogs are true companions for life and this book can really teach that to children. ( )

I liked this book so much, it had a short little story that was continuous. The kids order a dog, the dog arrives, they have a welcome party for the dog. The dog tears up things. I think some kids will say "our dog does that toooo" and relate. I think parents will feel the way the parents felt in the book, frustrated. ( )
