Just by the title I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical regency read, and I was correct. Georgina wants to live her own life on her own terms. She wants to travel the world, and live her passion of biology, and doesn’t want to be tied down by marriage, or all the other demands of polite society. Giles also doesn’t want to be tied down by marriage, but he takes a more off putting approach, pushing women away with sheer conceit.

I love the Mr. Darcy vibes that come off of Giles in the beginning, which could be why I liked him more than I probably should have. He ends up being a great character with many redeeming qualities and truly won me over by the end. This is definitely a slow burn in the romance department, and the first kiss was a bit on the awkward side, but the ending made it all worth it.

Georgiana’s strength and determination to follow her hearts passion despite it being a male-dominated field had me cheering her on from the get-go, even if the topic of biology, especially insects, does tend to freak me out a bit. There was a lot more natural history and biology knowledge than I expected, which was quite fascinating, and really showed the characters passion for the subject. It’s also something that really made this clean read so unique and a read that I truly enjoyed.
