It is about about a girl likes to rock on her grandmother lap. The girl talks about how other laps are good to sit on like her mom, dad and grandpas too. The girl likes being on her grandmother's lap when she has a bad cold, when there is lightning, and upset.

For young children, I believe this is a great book. Many children who have a great and close relationship with their grandparents can easily relate to this book. I also liked how the author repeated the phase "We sit in the big chair and rock back and forth, and back and forth, while Grandma hums little tunes. And her shoes make a soft sound on the floor." By repeating this phase, the author is able to get her message across strongly to her audience. The central message in this book is Family. The author stresses the importance of family throughout this entire book.

Summary: Even though the girl in the book loves spending time with her mother, father, sister, brother, and her grandfather, her favorite time is spent with her grandmother. The book describes how she loves sitting in her grandmothers lap while she is trying to relax. ( )
