Not a bad little book. But I have to admit there was something about the shape of the protagonist's chin and nose that bugged me. (How's that for being overly picky?) If my daughter picks up a subsequent volume, I'll definitely read it. Don't think I would buy one myself, though. ( )

This series is new to me, and I've really enjoyed the humor and storyline so far. ( )

A decent-enough graphic novel. Michael Paris inherits a piece of land that houses a graveyard (or, as it is named, "boneyard") -- and it happens to be infested by some evil-looking creatures. When the people of the town are about to raze the graveyard, Paris has to decide which side to be on. It's not really "horror" or gore; it's more like Archie Andrews meeting Dracula (although the language may be more appropriate for teens than pre-teens). There are a lot of humorous parts in the book, both in the speech and in the cartoon-y drawings (my favorite was the first sight of the town, covered by a permanent cloud). ( )

Boneyard is the tale of man who inherits property from his grandpa which is almost immediately followed with an offer from the town to purchase the land. He travels out to sell the land and iscovers his inheritance is a boneyard and the townsfolk are massed waiting for him to sign the paperwork so they can burn (good old fashioned mob with torches). He meets the residents of his boneyard; an alluring vamp chick, a skeleton, werewolf, swamp girl, frankenstein, witch, demon .... and more. They ultimately win him over and he refuses to sell. This is a nice enough story- neither the most or the least compelling series I've picked up. The art is very simple black & white renderings. ( )
