Two stories continue the adventure in Volume 8 of the Haruhi Suzumiya series. Editor-in-Chief, Straight Ahead! Since the beginning of the year, the SOS Brigade has been masking as the Literature Club to be recognized as an official high school organization. But when the new student council president threatens to disband the group, the members must write a collection of literature. Naturally, Haruhi assume the role of editor-in-chief and leads the team to publication with hilarious results. Wandering Shadow From writers to detectives, the SOS Brigade does it all. When fellow classmate Sanaka comes to the club seeking help, the team (well, Haruhi) is up to the task. A well-trodden popular park path has suddenly begun to terrify the neighborhood dogs, and Haruhi suspects that its being haunted by animal spirits. It looks like the SOS Brigade is about to perform its first first canine exorcism!… (mais)

I love this series, this book has two stories, the first is about a conflict between the student council and the Lit/SOS club and they are forced to produce a magazine, the second my favorite of the volume is about "spirits". A client appears who wants the SOS to investigate. It's probably my favorite because it features Yuki in her usual all powerful mode. (

In "Editor in Chief, Full Speed Ahead!", the SOS-dan must put together a literary newsletter in order to save the literature club--and thus their borrowed clubroom.

In "Wandering Shadow" the SOS-dan investigate an area rumored to be haunted, which all the neighborhood dogs have suddenly begun to avoid. Is it really a ghost, or could it be something else?

The stories are fairly amusing, but they don't advance either the characterization or the overall plot much. (

In the eighth instalment of the series, the SOS Brigade first come up against a suddenly-all-powerful student council that has the Brigade firmly in its sights. Haruhi faces off against the President when the Literature Club is forced to actually do something to ensure it remains a school club. The Brigade produce a literary magazine to placate the president but it turns out that he is an employee of the same agency for which Koizumi works, ensuring that Haruhi is not kept bored.

In the second story, the Brigade deal with a case of a supposedly haunted dog walk.

This instalment continues to develop the characters and situations that fans already know and enjoy, and continues exploring the mysterious world the normal high-school boy Kyon has gotten mixed up in. (
