Alpha Wolf was...just okay. It's a short book, only 200 pages, and it only took me a couple of hours to read but I just didn't love it. Neither of the main characters, Melanie and Drew, were great and the werewolf/shapeshifter part of the story wasn't particularly interesting. If you're looking for a great werewolf/shapeshifter story I'd recommend Rebecca York's Killing Moon. However, if you're just looking for an easy read that'll fill a couple of hours, Alpha Wolf might be just what you're looking for. ( )

I enjoyed this story, though it was fairly predictable.

Melanie moves to rural Maryland to work as a vet. The area has a strong legend of Werewolves and there have been some deaths that would appear to indicate that there are large animals around here. She doesn't believe in werewolves until she has to face facts when the man whose dog has been shot by a silver bullet and it turns out that he, in fact, is a werewolf. However he's working with the US Army to create and elixir that will help him to be a better werewolf.

At the same time the attacks are mounting and hostility is building.

Personally I would have been very tempted to up stakes and leave the crazy townspeople behind, but I could understand trying to put down roots. I liked the story and despite some moments where I caught the clues faster than the characters I thought it was a well drawn story. I would like to read more in this universe. ( )
