When Tomasa's peaceful life is torn about when soldiers came to her mountain town in Guatemala, her family is separated and on the run. Most of her family survives the massacre and scorched earth campaign. On the run and leaving their possessions behind, Tomasa, her father and two younger siblings journey across Mexico to try to reunite with her mother and brother.
A harrowing journey that at times moves slowly. An afterward gives a bit of insight about central America in the 1980s. (
