this was.... okay

i'm not a fan of authors throwing twists in just for the sake of it, there was no indication whatsoever that the ending would be what it was. there would be times when jade found something out or reacted a certain way, and there would be no reason to believe the situation wasn't as it appeared. and at the end the author basically went "aha ;) sike"

spoiler: the biggest instance of this is that at end it's revealed that jade has been rescuing young girls from her father all of these years. yeah... what? how? when?? that's very noble of her, but like how on earth could she have been not only capable of that, but successful? there was no indication that this was something she really wanted to do either. we saw her react to other girls who were trapped alongside her, but again, there wasn't even a hint that jade could try to help any of them. like i said, i think this was just some last ditch effort by the author to kind of go "ha! got you! you thought all these women were dead and they aren't!!" you killed them and gave us no reason or suspicion to believe they could have survived.... bad twist.

oh and let's talk about how on the same day that lion's wife is shot dead, he is reunited with woman he hasn't seen in 20 years, and moves on like it was nothing. that is so shitty and weird, what the hell was that? we're just gonna move past that?

And that is me being nice.

To say I hated this book is an understatement.
Every page is loaded with numerous editing errors. From typos, wrong words, sentence structure, jumpy scenes and much, much more.

Early in the book Isa describes herself as a size 2. And then has the nerve to complain about her 'fat'. Later in the book she says she is a 'fat size 4'. I don't know about you, but neither size is fat nor curvy. They are both skinny. WTH?!
The entire book is written this way.
Contant conflicting and contradicting dialog. Even Bryant's eyes change color no less than 3 times.
Less than 10% of the story makes any sense at all. The author just filled it with 'shocking' moments that did NOT connect to anything. Just thrown in.
There is absolutely no flow to the story at all.

I understand what the author was going for. She missed the mark categorically.

As for the cliffhanger end? Flat out stupid. Just another attempt to 'shock' without any flow.
The only thing it did was clear up why, somewhere in the middle of the story, the scene where Bryant was holding a non-existent baby in some kind of hospital.

This is so badly written and so poorly executed it has turned me off from ever reading another book from this author.

I'm left speechless with this read. And not in a good way. There were too many scenes, moments, hell even interactions that made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I was barely able to complete this read. The vulgarness of the Elite Kings were almost too much to bare and the weak heroine, who I loved in the beginning chapters, helped dwindle down my overall reading experience.

This was a book that filled in all the unsettled pieces from this series. A series, that at times, frustrated the hell out of me but also kept me turning the pages.

This author has a writing style that is uniquely her own. It took me a while to get used to and I am glad I did because if I had not, I'd have missed a suspenseful and riveting series.
