This is a great book that tells the story of August Pullman, a kid with a genetic deformity. This is an emotional and thought provoking chapter book, and one would think that with such a deep book it would be harder to understand, however this is not the case as the author uses excellent use of simple words to convey complex messages. The author was actually inspired by their own kid’s reaction to seeing someone with a deformity, which I think adds a new layer of depth to the work. ( ) This book is great for 5th graders and up students. It is a very inspiring book about a young boy with facial deformities. Its about friendship and how to always spread kindness and love even when you are not receiving it. I would have this book in my future classroom if i teach the appropriate age. Wonder is a heartwarming novel that tells the story of August Pullman, a fifth-grade boy with a facial deformity. August, also known as Auggie, embarks on his first year of public school after being homeschooled for years. As he navigates the challenges of fitting in and facing bullies, Auggie teaches those around him about kindness, empathy, and the true meaning of friendship. In the classroom, Wonder can be used to foster discussions about empathy, diversity, and the importance of standing up to bullying. Teachers can guide students in exploring the perspectives of different characters and discussing how their actions and words affect others.
