Too many characters, too much Indian history that didn't need to be in the story, too many plot lines that weren't resolved by books end. Bits of the book were funny (such as the songs in Honey's head, Dealey's picture taking investigative skills, & Skinner's devotion to his ex-wife). The book dragged on with Tigertail's woes about being a half white indian, Boyd's incessant whining, Gillian's constant chatter, & the references about manic episodes & bi polar disorder to explain most of the plot action. Contrived, confusing, & too long of a book with no satisfying explanations. ( ) I'm sure I've read all of Hiaasen's books before, but as I re-read them, I don't really remember them. My last read of his books "Basket Case" was a major disappointment and hard to finish. On the other had, "Nature Girl" is how I remember his books, great characters (although most a little Florida Crazy) and a good plot. While probably a little wordy at some spots, this was an enjoyable read from start to finish. Didn't really go anywhere. Character development at a foetal level, most if not all of them seeming like vague, recycled composites of folks from the Hiaasen novels I remember reading in the past. The "self-proclaimed queen of lost causes" part sounds interesting and edgy but it didn't actually mean anything as far as I could see. Somehow, despite very little actually happening, the novel still manages to seem extremely slow. I think I need to re-read Stormy Weather or something, since I definitely don't remember his other books having this problem... I'm sure the Floridian wilderness is a wonderful place, though. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
