Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:The New York Times bestselling author of Her Last Flight returns with the story of another Schuyler sister, a young woman embroiled in politics, passion, and dangerous secrets....

In the summer of 1966, Christina “Tiny” Hardcastle stands on the brink of a breathtaking future. Unlike her spirited sisters, Tiny was the consummate well-behaved debutant, poised and picture-perfect, raised to serve as a consort to a great man. Now, as her handsome husband, Frank, runs for a Massachusetts seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, that long-sought destiny lies nearly within reach.

But behind her glamorous facade, Tiny’s flawless life is cracking. She and Frank both have secrets in their pasts that could shatter their political ambitions and the intricate truce of their marriage. So when two unwelcome visitors arrive at the Hardcastle family’s Cape Cod estate—Frank’s cousin Caspian, a Vietnam war hero who knows a thing or two about Tiny’s hidden past, and an envelope containing incriminating photographs—Tiny is forced into a reckless gamble against a house that always, always wins….

Just as lovely as the previous Beatriz Williams books I have read. However, I wished I had started with The Secret Life of Violet Grant, then this book to end with Along the Infinite Sea. Instead if starting with Along the Infinite Sea, then The Secret Life of Violet Grant and end with this book. Also, as much as I liked Tiny is it Pepper (star of Along the Infinite Sea) that I truly adored! ( )

"Tiny has a big fat secret. Perfect little Tiny is cracking apart"

Tiny was always the good girl growing up, she did everything her parents expected of her. Her parents told her she was destined for great things which they meant as she was destined to marry a great man.

Tiny meets and marries Frank, the absolute picture of her parents wishes. She loves him but two years earlier she almost called the wedding off and walked away.

Now Tiny is being blackmailed by someone who knows what happened two years ago.
Tiny feels responsible to make the drama go away, her husband is a politician and can't be connected to a scandal.

I enjoyed the story but I wound up with very high expectations from this author after reading 100 Summers. I've enjoyed each of her books that I've read so far but I'll admit that I seem to be looking for the can't-put-it-down factor that 100 Summers had.

This is the second of three books about the Schulyer sisters. You don't have to read the first one to enjoy this one but I think you'll enjoy it more if you do. The first book is The Secret life of Violet Grey. This second book also mentions that book's lead character Vivian, so I always find it fun to check back in with a character I liked.

* I forgot to mention, I totally loved Caspian's character. What a great guy. Love the name too. Hoping for an appearance of all the Schulyer sisters, Caspian and Vivian's spouse in book three

Moving between 1964 just before Tiny marries Frank, and the Summer of 1966 in Cape Cod. As Frank runs for office and Tiny is expected to be the dutiful, beautiful wife by his side, an envelope of photos arrives - along with a blackmail note. As Pepper and Cap arrive, the tale twists around itself until all becomes clear.

I really enjoyed this story, it was something different. The story unfolds slowly and cleverly and the characters become people that you care about what happens to them. A very compelling read ( )

The first photograph arrives in the mail on the same day that my husband appears on television at the Medal of Honor ceremony. It's accompanied by the customary note written in block capital letters. By now, I know enough about politics - and about my husband's family, I suppose - to suspect this isn't a coincidence. -Tiny, 1966

"It looks hot," says Constance. A chorus of agreement follows her. People generally regard Constance's opinions as addenda to the Ten Commandments around here.
She unbuttons her blouse, and sure enough, her breasts are spilling out the top of the pretty lace-trimmed silk, plump and creamy, like a pair of overambitious souffles.
The hallway smelled of old sunshine and cigarettes.
Her face is so beautiful, you can't find a single flaw. The geometry of her cheekbones deserves its own mathematical theorem.
"Just imagine what life would be like if you were a little bit braver."
