If you could ask Pope Francis one question, what would it be?
Children have questions and struggles just like adults, but rarely are they given the chance to voice their concerns and ask the big questions resting deep in their hearts. In Dear Pope Francis, Pope Francis gives them that chance and celebrates their spiritual depth by directly answering questions from children around the world. Some are fun. Some are serious. And some will quietly break your heart. But all of them are from children who deserve to know and feel God's unconditional love.
Also available in Spanish as Querido Papa Francisco.

"The People's Pope shows that he is a down-to-earth man who understands both religion and children." -Kirkus Reviews.

This book was filled with letters that children wrote to the Pope, and he wrote letters back. I think this book would be great to share and talk about the Pope, and the history behind him. The grade I would say would be best would be around 5th grade. ( )

Not just for kids! The questions are real and we, as adults, still have these questions.
One of my favorite answers, in response to "Why did Jesus choose the 12 disciples and not others?": "We are all chosen by the love of Jesus. But each of us is chosen in a personal way - we are not all chosen in a single, common way. Jesus' love makes us feel chosen. But if you feel shut out of this love, then you have to face up to it and ask yourself why you feel that way. Jesus never excludes anyone from his heart. "
The graphics: a visual joy. ( )

I'm not a religious person, but I do admire Pope Francis for the messages he gives about getting back to what's important, such as helping the poor. I enjoyed this book and the way he places so much importance on answering questions from children. An inspiring read. ( )

I loved reading this with my boys. This book features letters to the pope from children all over the world. It is fun and beautiful book to look through as it shows each of the actual letters from the children and their illustrations. My kids really liked seeing the letters from all around the world and finding the different countries on a map as we read through them. Now they both want to write their own letters to Pope Francis! For those that know me, it might be a surprise to find that I read this book. However, despite my feelings on religion, I've been impressed with Pope Francis and the message that he is sending. When I heard about this book, I was intrigued to see what his responses to children's questions would be like. While his answers to the children's questions are naturally Christian-based, he also gives advice that anyone from any faith or background could use: that peace, love, and calm are important aspects to being a good person.
