I loved the poems told from the daughters perspective then from the mothers perspective. The poems are about adolescent issues that most girls face including fitting in, body image, and first crush. I felt so connected to this book because it reminds me of my own relationship with my 10 year old daughter. My daughter and are going through growing pains as she hits early adolescence and it’s nice to know I’m not alone. I’m relieved to know that other mothers and daughters have survived these awkward years! ( ) This book of poems truly pulled my heart. My mom is my best friend. She is the only person who knows me inside and out. She is the one person I run to and cry to. She is my everything. This book reminds me of my child hood with my mom. I liked this so much that I want to give it to my mom as a present. She is an English teacher and would adore this. Overall, this is one of my favorite poetry books as it puts light on the hard times of being a mother and a daughter. This one is my favorite poetry book I have read. Each two pages had a topic like, "bedroom", "no excuses", or "school". On the left page would be the daughters poem to the mother, related to that subject, and the right page would be the mother's reply to the daughter. This book is great for all mothers and daughters who will indeed face these issues. "Dear Mother, Dear Daughter" contains seventeen pairs of poems that represent communication between a daughter and a mother. The poems cover topics, such as, body image, having a crush, cleaning your room, and doing homework. Every poem in the book captured my attention! The one that made me emotional is called "Not Here". In this poem, the girl talks about her grandmother who has passed away and how lonely it feels without her. The mother responds in a poem called "Here" saying that she may not be there physically, but her spirit is always with them. A poem that made me laugh is called "My Room". The young girl tells her mother how if it is her room, why does she care if it is clean or not. The mother then responded in a poem called "Your Room" and tells her daughter it may be her room, "but it is certainly not a pigsty". I related to this poem, because when it comes to my room I am not the tidiest person. When I was younger, my mom would always me to clean and just as the young girl, I would say "it's MY room". As for the illustrations, they made the book even more amazing! The illustrations are black and white, and the details of the pictures capture the emotions each poem shares. I absolutely loved this book, and it has to be one of my favorites. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
