So first thing I'm going to make a complaint. In this book there were so many grammar issues that I wanted to gouge my eyes out. I'm really disappointed because this author until this book, only had maybe two or three in like the entire book. Now it's averaging out about two or three per chapter. That gets annoying after a while. However that being said, I still absolutely loved the book. I love the entire crew, I love some of the people that we lost. Like Stacy she was awesome. But I am glad for the progression that's happening right now. I can't wait to see what happens with the violent gang task force. And I can't wait to see if certain people finally pay for the shit that they did. Obviously not havoc. And I'm disappointed, where the hell is my havoc baby?? Give it to me. I need it. I mean hello she's fucking five guys?! ( )

I am stuck in this series and can only say that it reminds me a bit of the r/iam14andthisisdeep thread on reddit.

I finally discovered why the female protagonist is so "purple prose" in this series. Apparently she writes poetry and hasn't been able to get anything written down in a while. I do get a bit tired of the whole "we are baddasses, we are the kings of the county, we come from the side of town where everyone is baddasses, poor, and steals and we are the best at it, etc." It gets about as tedious as some of the internal poetic waxing that goes on.

The story is more of the same, but it seems that the stakes are getting higher. Although this book is about highschoolers, it is in no way a y/a novel. The series as a whole is pretty good and engaging. I especially like the separate relationships between the female lead and her "harem". I find that each individual relationship could exist on it's own (well, maybe not ALL, but at least four of them). We are getting a bit closer to Oscar so that's good.

The stakes are much higher and of course it ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger. I only hope that the foreshadowing in the previous books are a red herring. I want everyone to come out ok. It seems that as the series progressess the level of danger/murder/adult problems ramps up. I keep forgetting it's about highschoolers.

I won't go on about the general plotline, because you can find that anywhere, and if you haven't been reading this series so far, you don't start here. It's a single arc, can't miss, can't start "wherever" and can't go back.

I am a bit of a nitpicker on the plotholes though. Since this whole sereis is kind of a "beat the clock" where one of the main characters is in line to inherit some ungodly amount of money, but has some arbitrary boxes that need ticking off before. Get married, graduate high school, live at home until graduation.

The character "Vincent" who is set to inherit, marries our female protagonist "Bernadette". Since he has to graduate high school there are a few in school scenes that take place. Meanwhile his mother is doing everything in her power to try and stop this from happening since she stands to get the money if these things don't happen. Why Vincent doesn't just pay off the school to give him a diploma escapes me, because at this point, that was the last thing that needs to happen for him to inherit some billion dollars. Really? All he needs to do is graduate? I don't know of any school - especially one from such a bad neighborhood- that wouldn't just pass him if he pays out. I guess that if the author did that then there wouldn't be a series left and there wouldn't be a need to have the highschool drama that still goes on. The stakes have gotten pretty high now that there are more murders and biggger/badder game players. Yup. We have our characters killing off people, then showing up for English class. Lol! Oh, and let's not forget that we have 5 male leads as this is a RH. So, even though they don't get much mention here in the review, they are all in the book.

Bernie is a bit in her head a lot of the time, and I find that I was skimming pages just keeping my eyes out for the quotation marks indicating someone is speaking. Sometimes that internal dialogue takes pages to get through.

There is one thing that I kind of an not quite on board with, but I guess some snarky internal dialogue was needed. I won't get into it, but it's a "ghost in the corner" kind of thing that once you read it will understand

All in all, a great read, went very fast dispite it being a pretty long book.

Can't wait until the final installemnt, because like the others, this ended on a cliffy. I just hope and pray it has been written and is going to be released at the time it is supposed to. ( )
