Thanks to those who re-directed me to the 2013 thread....there I was languishing (not for long) on the 2012 one!
Now that I have had a bit more of a look at the other threads, and have got the gist of it, I might have to adjust my categorisation in post #1.
I do buy a lot of books, but they are 99.5% second hand (only Call the Midwife was new, and it was heavily discounted), and 80% of them are under $5.
Ill be back (as they say) :)

Welcome!
I have Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones on my list for the Commonwealth challenge. How did you like it?

Hi Vivienne, I resisted reading it for quite a while as *ahem* didnt like the cover. I was silly. It was a great read. His next one Hand me Down World was also good but not quite as good as Mister Pip.
9VivienneR
Thanks, that's good to hear.
BTW, I know what you mean about the cover. I remember getting rid of a copy of Jane Eyre because I didn't like the cover - and then immediately buying another - with a different cover.

OK
I have decided that I want to read 30 books for the remainder of the year, that are from my own shelves. I wont include any that dont make it to the shelves out of their shop bags :)
Now that I have a goal, I can start trying to reach it!
